During your virtual fitting appointment, our stylists will learn about your requirements and walk you through our extensive highlandwear and accessory range. If you are looking at buying a tartan item, they will help you choose from the 4,000 different tartan options we offer. When thinking about buying something to wear, our stylists will also direct you on how to take any measurements needed to make sure you get the ideal fit.

Preparing For Your Virtual Appointment


We want you to have the best possible experience with us, that’s why, for your appointment, we recommend the following:

  • Attending your appointment on a laptop. This will allow you to easily navigate our website and our wide range of accessories with our stylist
  • Wearing thin clothing like a t-shirt and trousers. This will help you take the most accurate measurements
  • Having a Tailor’s Measuring Tape handy. This allows you to easily take all of your measurements, just like we would if you visited one of our locations
  • To avoid background noise. If you have a pair of earphones, we recommend using them for your appointment

From the 16th to 18th century, the kilt was worn by Scottish highlanders in everyday life. During this period, kilts were made from a single length of material that was formed into pleats, wrapped around the waist, and secured with a belt. This kilt style was known as the feileadh mòr or great kilt and was a full-body garment. In 1746 the Dress Act was passed which outlawed the wearing of kilt and anything tartan for people in the highlands.
