MacGregor and MacDuff’s story started back in 1979. Founded by a Scottish Kiltmaker Mr MacGregor, and an American businessman, with a love of Scotland, called Mr Scollin.
Showcasing world-class Scottish craftsmanship, MacGregor and MacDuff are an award-winning kilt and highlandwear specialist who have been perfecting their trade for over 45 years.

We partnered with Boyd's Tailors to create the jackets that would enable us to offer full highlandwear outfits.
We first started offering a kilt hire service, making highlandwear more accessible to everyone from grooms to graduates.
No longer exclusively highlandwear specialists, with the launch of our range of tartan scarves.
We open the doors to our Prestwick store.
Our fifth qualified Master Kiltmaker joins the team, increasing our capacity to provide the highest quality kilts.
Mr Scollin and Mr MacGregor retired leaving a Master Kiltmaker legacy to a young, new management team.
Our first international sale, a Prince Charlie Kilt Jacket to a customer in America!
Continuing MacGregor and MacDuff’s expansion, in 2006, we opened our store in Glasgow’s West End!
Silver Mist, our very first tartan in our exclusive Mist Tartan range, was launched in 2009.
Inspired by the iconic Loch Lomond, our next exclusive Mist Tartan was our Lomond Mist.
We released our third exclusive Mist Tartan, our Oban Mist tartan is our tribute to the beautiful seascapes seen from the Little Bay.
Arran Mist, our fourth exclusive tartan, was launched in 2016 to celebrate the iconic ‘Scotland in Miniature’.
The Islay Mist tartan, our fifth Mist Tartan was inspired by the breathtaking landscapes and sunsets from one of the most iconic Hebridean Islands, the Isle of Islay.
Harris Mist, our sixth and latest exclusive tartan to enter the Mist range. A collection of ocean blues, earthy greens, cool greys and a splash of burnt orange. A kaleidoscope of colour that represents the best of what the Isle of Harris has to offer.
Spotting a gap in the market for authentic Scottish kilts in London, we launched our fortnightly London Fitting Service in 2015.
Following the success of our London Fitting Service, we launched our Manchester Fitting Service to cater to our customers in the North of England.
In 2019, MacGregor and MacDuff went Stateside! America has always been a special place for MacGregor and MacDuff and we were thrilled to host our first-ever international kilt fitting service in New York City.
To celebrate 40 years of MacGregor and MacDuff, in 2019, our Bath Street store underwent a complete refurbishment and rebranding to become our Flagship Store.
With the launch of virtual appointments, our customers can now enjoy the kilt shop experience from the comfort of their own home, wherever they are in the world.
Following the success of our New York City fitting service in 2019, we returned to the Big Apple once again and also added Toronto to the itinerary for the first time.
The Toronto and New York fitting services continue to be enjoyed by customers across the Atlantic in 2023, paving the way for more international destinations in the future.
As we continued to expand, Edinburgh seemed like the natural location for our newest store.
We were honoured to be approached by Kelvingrove Art Gallery to provide a kilt outfit for their ‘Scottish Identity in Art’ exhibition, our kilt will be kept in the museum’s archives for centuries.
In celebration of our Harris Mist tartan launch, the Isle of Harris became the obvious destination for our next Kilt fitting service.
