What tartans do you have available for hire?

We have our exclusive Mist range available to hire, including Islay Mist, Arran Mist, Harris Mist, Jura Mist, Lomond Mist, Oban Mist and Silver Mist. We also offer a further seven tartans for hire covering a range of colour variations, including Black Watch, Modern MacKenzie, Scotland Forever, Blue Ramsey, Hunting MacGregor, Highland Granite and Hebridean Heather. In addition, we offer a hire option that allows you to choose from our range of over 4,000 purchase tartans.

Which jackets do you have available for hire?

We have 7 jackets available to hire, including modern styles such as the Arran Tweed, Tarbert Tweed, Jura Brown Tweed, Lomond Tweed and Glen Orchy Tweed. We also offer traditional black jackets including the Argyll (with or without a waistcoat) and the Prince Charlie (with 3 or 5 button waistcoat).

What deposit do you require for a kilt hire?

We require individual hires to be paid in full at point of sale. For wedding party or group bookings, a 50% deposit is required at point of sale. The final balance is due 4 weeks before your collection date.

Do I need to bring identification when hiring in store?

Two forms of ID are required: one photo ID (driving licence or passport) and one recent address verification dated within the last 3 months, such as a bank or utility bill (paper or digital).

How far in advance do I need to book?

We advise booking and measuring at least 12 weeks in advance of your event to ensure availability of tartans and sizes. You can double check your measurements 4 weeks before the event. Last-minute hires are possible subject to stock levels and may incur a last-minute fee.

Do I need an appointment to hire a kilt?

Yes, you need an appointment before visiting any store or fitting service. During your appointment, you will try on a sizing kilt and jacket. You will not try your chosen tartan, but you can try the correct jacket. Appointments can be booked online.

Can I book my hire online?

Yes, you can hire either in store or online. Click the provided link to start your online hire.

What time can I collect my hire?

Individual hires can be collected between 3pm–5pm on Monday and Tuesday and 2pm–5pm from Wednesday to Sunday on assigned pick-up dates. Wedding party hires will have assigned times via coordinators, contactable on 0141 280 3398.

How long can I hire a kilt for?

For Scottish store hires, the standard period is 4 days (collection 2 working days before event, return the day after). For posted hires, we post 4 working days before the event and collect next working day after. Extensions are charged at an additional 10% per day.

Do you offer hires for an extended period?

Yes, extended hires are available for an additional 10% per day after the standard 4-day period. Our sales staff can provide more information on costs.

What happens if I lose my hire outfit?

The hirer is responsible for the cost of any hire item lost, stolen or damaged (unless covered by ADW). Heavily soiled returns may incur up to £20 cleaning fee or replacement costs. Failure to return may result in referral to a debt collection agency.

What sizes do your outfits range from?

Outfits range from children aged 18 months up to 60" waist and 60" chest. Sizes vary by style; for younger or out-of-range measurements, please visit a store to confirm availability.

Can you hire specific items such as a kilt jacket and waistcoat or certain accessories as opposed to a whole outfit?

Yes, individual items can be hired, including kilts, jackets and waistcoats, or single accessories such as a sporran.
