The Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity Launches Tartan

2026 marks the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity’s 25th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than by designing their own bespoke tartan? We were delighted to help the charity bring their vision to life. Keep reading to see their design and the wonderful products they have made with it.

Children's Hospital Charity Tartan

We have supported the Glasgow Children’s Hospital as our main charity partner over the years, and we couldn’t wait to get started on their tartan. The charity was founded in 2001 with the mission to provide young patients and their families the best possible care and support during the most difficult times in their lives. We never fail to be amazed by the brilliant work they do. We are honoured to get involved where we can with fundraising efforts such as the Glasgow Kilt Walk and hosting tartan workshops for children in the hospital.

GCHC Tartan Scarf and Handbag

The charity’s team worked closely with our in-house tartan designer to create their unique pattern. The tartan features purples and soft greys taken from their logo, making it instantly recognisable as the charity. The result is an eye-catching tartan with a contemporary edge, perfect for a vast range of accessories and highlandwear. The tartan is now recorded on the Scottish Register of Tartans and cannot be used without the charity’s permission. Our Tartan Design Service isn’t just for charities and businesses. If you are feeling inspired to create your own piece of Scottish history, learn more about this service here

To launch the tartan, the charity organised a photoshoot at Arnold Clark, who had kindly sponsored the tartan. Mark, one of the hospital’s long-running staff members, looked super smart in a handmade kilt in the new tartan, paired with our Glen Orchy Tweed Jacket and Waistcoat. The charity’s mascot, Kami Bear, even got in on the action with his own kilt! More photos were also taken in the children’s hospital itself with surgeon Micheal wearing made-to-measure tartan trews. Tartan hats were made for the charity's mini teddy bears for their annual Kami Bear Trail, and we can’t wait to see what they do next with this special tartan!
