It's been another busy year here at the Kings of Kilts and we’re taking a look back at some of our most fashionable moments. Kilts and tartan are Scottish staples that we are used to seeing at weddings and celebrations. This year we have been lucky enough to see some familiar faces wearing our highlandwear everywhere from magazine covers to arena tours. There’s no arguing that tartan is the fashion favourite that never goes out of style. Keep reading for a recap of our best style moments.
The year got off to a stylish start with actor David Tennant taking our Silver Mist tartan for a spin at the BAFTA Awards. We loved David’s black tie take on our exclusive tartan, showing that a kilt can be worn at the most formal of events. David paired our Silver Mist with fashion-forward ghillie boots and a striking embellished suit jacket for an outfit that took the red carpet by storm.
From the red carpet to the front cover, fellow actor Ncuti Gatwa was next to get kilted up. When we were approached by The Sunday Times Style Magazine to provide some kilts for Ncuti, we couldn’t wait to see how our tartan would be styled. Dressed down with jumpers and layered over trousers, Ncuti showed just how contemporary our kilts can be and that there is a way everyone can wear them to showcase their unique style.
Our tartan loves to travel and this summer it was on tour with rocker Jagwar Twin. Jaguar Twin loved wearing our Hunting MacGregor tartan for his shows across Europe supporting Thirty Seconds to Mars. Tartan has long been associated with rebellion and Jagwar emulated this spirit wearing his Prince Charlie jacket open and finishing the look with a bold fur sporran and gloves.
Our kilts didn't stay away from the stage for long. The Vamps bassist Connor Ball rocked out in our tartan for not one but two nights on their reunion tour. We were delighted to help Connor embrace his Scottish roots with our Islay Mist tartan, the ideal blend of tradition and contemporary style.
You’ve seen how they wear it, now it’s over to you. These stars prove that tartan doesn’t need to be traditional and that there is a style for every occasion.
