If you walk down Bath Street and glance over to our flagship store window you will see our latest display. You’ll see a very stylish Brown Tweed Kilt Outfit with Skirl tartan standing next to a stunning wedding dress made from Scotland's finest lace.
The window display was created in collaboration with MYB Textiles, the world's only patterned lace producer still using original Nottingham Lace Looms. Some of the looms they use are over 90 years old and able to create material that is supremely intricate and beautiful to look at.
Our Visual Merchandiser Erin actually interned with MYB Textiles back in 2014 and was able to bring the two brands together. Erin is in charge of designing all of our window displays and while they are always amazing, we think that this stunning lace dress next to our Brown Tweed kilt outfit provides an exceptionally stylish look for our Bath Street Store.
When it comes to textile manufacturing, there is a lot of competition from companies in Europe and Asia. Over the last 20 or so years, a lot of the textile manufacturers in Scotland succumbed to this competition and have unfortunately had to close. MYB Textiles, however, have managed to foresee much of the changes affecting the industry and are now able to stand tall as the last lace and madras producer in the area.
MYB Textiles has a fascinating history and product so if you would like to learn more about them, be sure to check out their website. For any questions about the collaboration or anything you see in the window display, feel free to contact marketing@macgregorandmacduff.co.uk
