The Kiltwalk is an annual fundraising event for Scottish charities. The Kiltwalk has been designed to help propel fundraising in Scotland and deliver much-needed donations to some of Scotland's most important causes.
The idea is simple yet fantastic. Walkers choose a charity they would like to support, then pick one of the organised walk events. This year events will take place in Glasgow (24 April), Aberdeen (29 May), Dundee (21 August), and Edinburgh (18 September). There is also a virtual Kiltwalk that will take place between the 7th and 9th of October where you how and where you’d like to take part.
Once your event location has been selected, you then need to pick the length of walk you’d like to take on. There are three options; the Wee Wander which is a 3.5 mile walk, the Big Stoll which is 14.5 miles, and the Mighty Stride which is an impressive 22.5 adventure. Having the 3 options is great as there is a distance for everyone.
Once you have your location and walk distance chosen all you need to do is get registered and start fundraising. Thanks to Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation, every penny you raise, the foundation will top your donation up by 50% which is hugely generous and even more of a reason to get your walking shoes on this year.
On the day you’ll be joined by thousands of other walkers all of which will be either wearing kilts or some piece of tartan. That’s right, kilts, they don’t call it the Kiltwalk for no reason. As this is a Scottish fundraising event for Scottish charities, doing the walk in a kilt seems rather poetic if you ask us.
To do our part, we are offering a special hire rate for the 2022 Glasgow Kiltwalk. You can hire a kilt from our Glasgow stores for just £20 and this will include a kilt pin to make sure you look the part. For every hire, we will then donate £5 to Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.
We are in the middle of rallying the MacGregor and MacDuff troops for this year's Kiltwalk. We will all be out there with you, wearing our kilts and doing our bit for Scottish charities. Which distance we will be doing is still unknown. There has been fierce negotiations between the super-fit and “less exercise inclined” members of staff, so we will have to wait and see.
Since the inaugural Kiltwalk in 2016, the everyday people of Scotland have raised £19 million and The Hunter Foundation has donated an additional £10 million, totalling a whopping £29 million for over 2,600 charities. Each year the goal is to get even more donations than the year before and 2022 will hopefully achieve that with your help.
So what are you waiting for, get in touch with us on 0141 280 3398 or email us at info@macgregorandmacduff.co.uk and get your kilt booked, register for the Kiltwalk then start fundraising! We will see you all on the 26 of April.
