In 2023 we added Harris Mist to our collection of exclusive tartans which invited green into the range. After such a positive response from our customers, we decided to continue the trend and add something a little different to the mix. We are very excited to announce that our newest exclusive tartan has arrived and it’s called Jura Mist. We think you are going to love it as much as we do.
Inspiration for Jura Mist
Following the trend of all our other Mist tartans, when conceptualising what the new design would look like, we looked to Scotland for inspiration. We landed on the Isle of Jura, an island just off the west coast of Scotland in the Inner Hebrides. As far as Scottish islands go, Jura isn’t a small island, roughly measuring 29 miles long and 7 miles wide, but it only has an estimated population of 200 inhabitants. Jura’s wild nature and untouched beauty drew us in, and once we started looking at it, we couldn’t stop. The Isle of Jura quickly became the perfect place for us to find the inspiration we needed to design a new Mist tartan.
The Jura Mist Design
At first glance, the Jura Mist tartan has an earthy colour. This is the first time one of our Mist tartans has featured brown in the design. The addition of this colour brings a level of warmth to the range which opens up new outfit styles for our customers. The brown pays homage to the island's rich and fertile land that not only sustains the wildlife but also gives the Island’s world-famous whisky its distinctive peaty flavour. Once you look deeper into the design, you start to notice the shade of green emerging, much like the dense forests do from the soil on the Isle. Look even closer and you’ll see a splash of red which symbolises the deer that roam freely across the island, highlighting Jura’s untamed beauty.
Jura Mist x Jura Brown Tweed
Jura Mist is now officially available to buy in a range of different highlandwear products and accessories. We have created a brand new kilt outfit package in both our sales and hire range which includes a Jura Brown Tweed kilt jacket. This new kilt jacket has been created to be paired seamlessly with our new tartan, featuring the same earthy brown. Featuring single-button cuffs and a two-button front, the jacket is modern and stylish. It also comes with a matching five-button waistcoat with a stylish black back.
