Earlier this year we had the pleasure of announcing our support of Aoife’s Sensory Bus and have been following their journey since their last visit. The charity was set up in memory of 6 year old Aoife who sadly lost her battle with a brain tumour in 2019. She is the inspiration behind everything they do. 
If you haven’t heard about Aoife’s Sensory Bus, the charity was founded by Aoife’s Dad, Michael. His idea was to equip a bus with all sorts of sensory magic from bright lights and colours to interactive screens, soft furnishings and a smart projector. The charity travels all over Ayrshire to share this sensory experience with young people who have additional support and complex needs.
In August of this year, the charity took the huge step to host their first charity ball and we are delighted to be able to share just how well the night went. The aim of the ball was to raise awareness for the bus and all the amazing work they do for the community. This was the first time the charity had planned and hosted such a big event. It’s clear to see from the photos that everyone had a great night!
When we met the charity back in August, we presented them with an exclusive tartan, designed and made in honour of Aoife. The yellow and pink in the tartan represent her favourite colours and the blue represents her love of the beach and water. This tartan was used to make a kilt for Michael which he wore to the charity event. Being such an eye-catching and unique tartan, it’s no wonder that it was a major talking point of the night.
Since the event, to continue raising awareness and funding for the bus, the team decided to use the tartan to create some new products to sell. From cosmetics bags to bow ties, the charity got creative. We love seeing the tartan being used in so many different ways. The products are now available to preorder.
