Hosted in our flagship store on Bath Street, Glasgow, the tour is available to a variety of sized groups. Our in-house tour guide delves into the history of highlandwear and delivers a detailed, personal experience.
We start the tour by discussing the history of the kilt. From the Great Kilt to the contemporary version we wear today, the talk covers the natural progression from practicality to symbolic style. This then leads us into the history of tartan, how different colours were influenced by the different dyes that were available and of course, why tartan was banned during the 18th century.
We want our tour to be as personal as possible which is why we ask our guests if they have any Scottish heritage or if they have a Scottish surname. We have a library of different tartan books that we can use to find out a little more about their Scottish family heritage and introduce them to the different variants of their Clan Tartan. We also invite the group to try on a kilt and traditional accessories so they can feel what it’s like to wear a highlandwear outfit. This also makes for an excellent photo opportunity.
At the end of the tour, guests are offered discounts across our range of highlandwear products so they can leave with a piece of Scottish history and remember their experience.
