What to Expect at Your Virtual Kilt Fitting

Your appointment will be conducted over video call where one of our experienced stylists will assist and advise you on choosing every element of your highlandwear. 

The fitting will begin by discussing which tartan you would like to go for. At MacGregor and MacDuff we have over 4,000 tartans available. From clan tartans to universal variants, our stylist will be able to help you navigate all of your options. Once the tartan has been chosen, an array of jackets will be offered to you. Our stylist will assist you in choosing a jacket that will perfectly suit your chosen tartan. There is then an assortment of kilt accessories to choose from; which not only complete but complement your outfit.

After your outfit has been decided on, our stylist will talk you through taking your own measurements. The fitting will take no longer than an hour, and once complete, the details of your order will be sent to our manufacturing team.

It will take roughly 8 - 12 weeks to get your outfit ready. Once the outfit is complete and has passed our strict quality control check, it will be packaged and sent with an international courier.

PREPARING FOR YOUR VIRTUAL APPOINTMENT

For the best experience at your virtual appointment, we recommend the following;

  • Use a laptop if possible. Using a laptop will allow you to have your hands free when taking your measurements and will be the easiest way to navigate our website
  • Wear thin clothing like a t-shirt and jeans. When taking your measurements, it’s important you get the most accurate sizes and wearing thin clothing will help
  • Having a tailor's tape measure ready. These tape measures are flexible and will easily wrap around your body
  • Avoid too much background noise. Use a pair of earphones during your appointment if possible, this will give you the best experience as you and your stylist will be able to communicate without raising your voices

Where Can I Wear a Kilt?

From the 16th to 18th century, the kilt was worn by Scottish highlanders in everyday life. During this period, kilts were made from a single length of material that was formed into pleats, wrapped around the waist, and secured with a belt.
