As we are fast approaching into the festive season, we have been busy getting organised for Christmas. Highlandwear accessories are a perfect gift or stocking filler for a loved one, and we have carefully selected our firm favourites to be on display in each of our stores to help with your Christmas shopping. Alongside accessories such as pocket watches, hip flasks, and cufflinks; we also have luxurious lambswool scarves available in each of our Mist tartans. Woven from 100% lambswool in Scotland, these scarves are the perfect accessory for those crisp mornings.
As well as displaying our Christmas favourites, our Visual Merchandising team have been busy organising a stylish Christmas window display for each one of our stores. Our Flagship on Bath Street has undergone the first festive makeover this week, with the concept of: MacGregor and MacDuff’s Regal Christmas!
It is important that our window display always capture a story or key message, and each element is thought about down to the finest detail. As we have recently undergone a refit in each of our stores, we came across velvet curtains that used to be hung in our sales room. In a deep burgundy, the curtains look so rich and elegant, making them the perfect backdrop for a Christmas display. One of our main brand values focuses on the importance of upcycling and reusing products of a high quality, this is present in design features in each store, as well as initiatives we have in place with local charities, and so we were happy to put these curtains to a new use!
To fit the look, we found a black and white diamond vinyl flooring in the perfect size to fit our window. We had a vision of what we wanted the flooring to be like, yet it was difficult to find until we had a search around The Barras in Glasgow - a hub of shops and markets, and the perfect place to find unusual items. We always shop locally when purchasing items for our stores, and The Barras is now one of our go-to locations. We then used large props, including two circular tables holding a candelabra and an urn, meaning that the scene was minimalistic but very effective! Our props frame one solo mannequin, dressed in one of our favourite winter outfits.
The Hebridean Heather is a beautiful tartan, predominantly grey but featuring a burgundy and navy line running through. We paired this tartan with an Oban Tweed jacket and waistcoat, and pulled it together with a burgundy cravat - a perfect accessory to pull out the line within the tartan. A light sporran lifted the outfit, and the white colouring holds connotations of winter and snow. Finally, we added a pocketwatch which is the perfect gift to give a loved one at Christmas.
Make sure to visit our festive window on Bath Street, and pop into any one of our stores for your Christmas gifts. Keep your eyes peeled for our Prestwick and Dumbarton Road festive takeovers next week!
